- At the Dominant: Life is organized around the development of an inner system of principles; external accomplishment is secondary to the logical integrity of the framework (Thinker INTP, Monk ISTP).
- At the Auxiliary: At the auxiliary position (for ENTP and ESTP): the internal code that gives an exuberant dominant its shape. The framework under the argument, the rule applied mid-move; it keeps the line while everything else flexes.

- Ask them to explain something they know well. Ti (strict definition) starts from definitions and builds up, correcting imprecision along the way.
- Present a workable but internally inconsistent plan. Ti (strict definition) cannot let the inconsistency stand even if the plan works.
- Ask what convinces them. Ti (strict definition) says a sound argument they have personally re-derived, not results or consensus.
- Ask about rules. Ti (strict definition) accepts only rules it can justify from first principles.
