Judges by personal ideals and passions: an inner conscience whose rulings are unanimous because there is only one voter. Romanticism: cultivating an inner harmony from inner ideals and passions, and seeing others as having innate selfhood.

The five named positions

- At the Dominant: Life is a work of self-expression: opportunities are adapted to desires, not desires to opportunities; the very existence becomes the art (Artist ISFP, Idealist INFP).
- At the Auxiliary: At the auxiliary position (for ESFP and ENFP): conviction as the engine of outward action. The personal mandate aims the exploring or celebrating dominant, so the risks get taken for something actually cared about.
- At the Inspiring: At the inspiring position (for INTJ and ISTJ): this function's register is hungered for naively, admired in others, reached for without native skill, and received as a call the ego did not author rather than wielded as a tool.
- At the Nemesis: At the nemesis position (for ENTP and ESTP): the moral self-exemption the argument-led types refuse, guilt and personal grievance offered as reasons. Contained, it keeps a private code alive; fed, outrage starts running the tactics.

Across the sixteen
Every type places Fi somewhere; the position decides what it becomes. Each pairing is its own hexagram, with its own card and reading. In any position, Fi can fail toward too much control or too little; the loop between the two is on the model page.
Private conviction (Fi) sits in the dominant position for ISFP and INFP. Like hexagram 1, the Creative, their internal sense of what matters acts as a pure inspiring force that answers to no external authority; every other faculty works to serve this conviction.

- Ask for a time they refused something everyone else accepted. Fi (private conviction) has a vivid story with a values core.
- Ask how they know a choice is right. Fi (private conviction) cites inner resonance or conscience, not consensus or metrics.
- Ask what art/music they love and why. Fi (private conviction) answers in terms of personal meaning and authenticity.
- Push them to justify a value 'objectively'. Fi (private conviction) eventually says it doesn't need external justification.
